Since being rechartered in 2006, the Epsilon Phi chapter at University of Iowa has strived to create a home away from home with meaningful friendships that will last a lifetime. The bond the sisters of AEPhi share is something very unique and special. We value unity, the feeling of closeness and a true sense of belonging. In AEPhi there is always a sister to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, and a friend to laugh with. Someone is always there when you want to go out, or if you just want to stay home and have a movie night. In AEPhi we are friends by chance, sisters by choice.
AEPhi Founding Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority was founded by seven Jewish women: Helen Phillips, Ida Beck, Rose Gerstein, Augustina "Tina" Hess, Lee Reiss, Rose Salmowitz and Stella Strauss, at Barnard College in New York City on October 24, 1909. Their goal was to foster lifelong friendship and sisterhood, academics, social involvement and community service while providing a home away from home for their members. The dream that was born in a dorm room at Barnard College in 1909 continues to succeed, prosper and thrive on over 50 college and university campuses nationwide. AEPhi welcomes with open arms hundreds of new members each year and seeks not only to live up to the ideals and goals of its original founders, but also to exceed them.
Message from The President Welcome! My name is Anna Barth and I’m glad you decided to visit our website! Take a look around and see everything that Alpha Epsilon Phi at Iowa has to offer! We are a small group of women who have made a promise to wear our values as a badge of honor. We work hard to foster friendships with each other and the rest of our fellow students while supporting each other in all our endeavors. At the Epsilon Phi chapter, you will find plenty of opportunities to volunteer and learn new things while growing in experience and confidence! Accepting to all, I’m proud to call Alpha Epsilon Phi my home away from home.
